Welcome to the realm of stylish dogs

Types of dog hair and their care

The fur of dogs gives not only beauty to our favorites, but also basic protection: protect them from cold, excessive heat, sunlight and minor injuries. Since all types of hair have different characteristics, the way of care is different. It is therefore worth knowing what dogs with different hair need.

Short hair

The short furry shuts to the body, thick and bright, such as boxers or Dalmata fur. Its care is relatively simple: it is worth combing through a few times a week with a rubber brush or a hairbrush, thus removing dead hairs and stimulating the circulation of the skin. Bathing is only necessary if it is really justified, for example after laying in mud.

Long hair

The long, often multi-layered fur, such as collie or Afghan greyhound fur, is particularly prone to rancidity. Therefore, daily combing is almost essential, otherwise the hair will quickly curl up and filce. In many cases cosmetic shearing is also necessary to keep the hair healthy and allow the dog’s skin to breathe properly.

Wire hair

The fur of dogs with wire hair, such as schnauzer or foxterrier, is hard to feel and is very well protected from environmental effects. However, their care is special: they also need trimming in addition to regular combing. This means that dead parts of the cover hair are removed by hand or by special means, allowing the new hair to grow back healthy.

Curly or wavy hair

For example, the fur of poodles and bichon freshmen is soft, curly or wavy, which offers a beautiful view, but requires serious attention. Their hair is prone to fragmentation and is easily intertwined and should therefore be combed several times a week. In addition, it is recommended that the hair does not make it difficult for the skin to breathe and retain its flexibility.

Naked fNumber

The hairless dogs, such as the Chinese naked dog, require special care. With no fur, their skin is directly exposed to the weather. In summer they should be protected from sunburn by sunscreen and hydrated in winter against dehydration. They are also more prone to skin problems, so regular veterinary checks are recommended.

Why is regular care important?

Caring the hair of dogs is not an aesthetic issue. Purified and regularly fed fur helps prevent skin diseases, painful inflammation caused by the worms and contributes to the comfort of the animal. In addition, care is a shared pastime that strengthens the relationship between the dog and the host.

Summarythat whatever hair type it is, regular care is not only for the beauty of the dog but also for its health. A well-groomed dog is happier, more comfortable, and will remain healthier in the long term.
